A 36-year-old truck driver, Toheeb Kamoru, on Wednesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing a truck worth N40m.
Kamoru, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a two-count charge of malicious damage and theft.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Samuel Owolabi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 13 at about 11.30 a.m. at the Ologuneru area of Ibadan.
Owolabi alleged that the defendant stole a Scania truck valued at N40 million, belonging to one Mohammed Hassan.

He alleged that the defendant also damaged the truck’s metal main bearing, rings, oil filters, model shafts, among other parts, valued at N2.7 million.
He said the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 451 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Gladys Olanrewaju, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until May 4 for hearing.
