Ibadan APC Rally: What Buhari Told 103 Traditional Rulers

President Muhammadu Buhari met with 103 traditional rulers on Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo State, where he has gone to hold the Ibadan leg of the presidential campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Buhari met with the traditional rulers led by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building Secretariat, in the Oyo state capital.

The President’s meeting with the traditional rulers held shortly before he proceeded to the venue of his campaign rally in the state.

He told the chiefs that he would continue to run a corruption-free government and block every loophole that leads to the perversion of justice and rule of law in the country.

“During the past several months, we have been taking steps to institute integrity and transparency in the processes of government and holding those who have plundered our commonwealth to account for their actions,” said Buhari.

“However, the costs of recovery and sanctions are also enormous. While commendable successes have been recorded, it has become manifest that corruption fights back. With enormous stolen resources elements have attempted to compromise law enforcing institutions and pervert the course of justice.”

“This realization highlights the necessity of building a system that focuses on preventing corruption. We continue to implement policies aimed at building resilient systems that can withstand assault by corrupt officials,” he said.
