The Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has appointed a former National Assembly clerk, Olaide Adelami, as his deputy.
Adelami hails from the same hometown as Aiyedatiwa’s late former boss, Rotimi Akeredolu.
The appointment comes twenty-eight days after the governor was sworn into office following the demise of former Governor Akeredolu.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa disclosed that the name of the new deputy governor has been transmitted to the state House of Assembly for approval.
“His nomination will be announced by the House of Assembly later today,” the statement read.
Adelami, who contested for the governorship ticket of All Progressives Congress(APC) in 2020 before he stepped down for Akeredolu hails from Owo in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
He retired from the National Assembly in April 2018.
