Tsanyawa made the disclosure on Friday while addressing pressmen on Polio Immunization in Kano.

He said the state is targeting a total number of 3.2 million of 0-59 months Children for immunization from November 23-26 ,2019 and urged parents to accept the vaccine and not read political meanings into the exercise.

The success recorded in the polio campaign in the state, according to the commissioner, is not unconnected with the sustained Improvement in Polio Eradication Initiatives  (PEI).

He said the last recorded case of polio was on July 14, 2014 but stressed that the state was at risk of new infections neighboring states of Katsina and Jigawa.

The threats, he said, was due to the “long stretch of boarder with Jigawa and Katsins states ,high population dynamics occasions by high volume of commercial activities and highly populated metropolitan local government areas.”

He said with the interruption of Polio Virus transmission, the state was on the march towards total eradication of the virus, noting that the achievement was largely due to the concerted efforts of the state government and the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

“It is worthy to re-iterate that Kano state government is fully committed to providing adequate and quality health care services to the good people of the state.”
