The Kano State Hospitals Management Board has suspended three medical professionals directly involved in the treatment of a housewife, Aishatu Umar, whose death was linked to alleged medical negligence after a surgery at Abubakar Imam Urology Centre, Kano.
The board’s Public Relations Officer, Samira Suleiman, confirmed that the suspension is with immediate effect.
Umar reportedly died after what her family described as suspected medical negligence following a surgical procedure carried out at the hospital.
A family member, Abubakar Mohammed, who posted on Facebook, said the late Umar who was married with five children, died around 1am on Tuesday after suffering persistent abdominal pain since undergoing surgery at the facility in September 2025.
Following the incident, the state hospitals management board on Tuesday ordered for an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident, promising that appropriate action would be taken in line with established regulations should any negligence be established.
