LASEMA Recovers Helicopter Wreckage For Investigation

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has recovered the wreckage of the helicopter that crashed into residential area at Opebi area of Ikeja, Lagos State.

Officials of the agency had been at the crash site since the accident happened at around noon on Friday.

They have, however, recovered the wreckage and taken it to the Accident Investigation Bureau at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos for further investigation.

The Director General of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said this in a series of tweets on the Twitter handle of the agency in it’s update on the crash.

The tweets read, “LASEMA Response Team at Opebi helicopter crash site, rescue ongoing. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, has activated its resources to the helicopter crash site at 16A Salvation Opebi Road, today, Friday, 28th August, 2020. Operations ongoing.

“LASEMA in recovery of wreckage. The agency has recovered the wreckage of the helicopter with the aid of the Hiab and evacuated it from the accident scene to the Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, Office,
Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, for further investigation.’

Two persons had died on the spot in the crash while the third person had been taken to the intensive care unit at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

The helicopter crashed into the building breaking the fence and parts of the building as well has smashing cars parked there.

LASEMA had earlier revealed that the Bell Helicopter 206B3, belonged to Quorum Aviation Ltd crash.
