NAPTIP Rescues Elderly Woman From Violent Son

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued an elderly woman from a case of repeated domestic violence allegedly perpetrated by her son, a man in his mid-30s, at Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja.

According to NAPTIP’s statement , the case, which had reportedly persisted for some time, was brought to the attention of the Agency by concerned members of the public late yesterday.

It noted that preliminary findings indicate that the victim had previously attempted to flee the abusive environment and make a formal report.

NAPTIP added that following the latest report, it’s Rapid Response Squad swiftly mobilised to the location, rescued the victim, and took the suspect into custody.

“Necessary procedures are currently ongoing as the Agency continues its investigation and works to ensure justice for the survivor,” NAPTIP noted.

The Agency commended the concerned citizens who reported the incident and urges members of the public to continue speaking up against all forms of abuse, violence, and exploitation.
