Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has stirred fresh public debate after asserting that Nigeria is “better off” under the administration of President Bola Tinubu than it was many years ago.
The singer made the remark during an appearance on Wazobia TV, where the host referenced his classic track E Be Like Say, noting that many of the socio-political issues highlighted in the song still persist.
Responding, 2Baba said, “We are better off than many years ago. Just look at it,” a statement that quickly drew attention amid ongoing concerns over insecurity, economic hardship, and governance challenges across the country.
On the question of political ambition, the award-winning artist clarified that while he had previously taken part in advocacy efforts that required neutrality, he remains committed to contributing to national development.
“It’s still ongoing, but I will continue doing it. I will establish my own stance and try to make a difference. I’ll try to make it work because I know where I stand,” he said.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions, with some Nigerians agreeing with his perspective while others argue that current conditions do not reflect significant progress.
