Olu Jacobs: Son Reacts To Death Rumour

Contrary to the rumour being circulated, veteran Nollywood actor, Olu Jacobs is alive and in good spirits, his family has confirmed.

Earlier on Sunday, social media was abuzz with reports of the actor’s death. It was the third time in four years that death rumours have surfaced about the actor.

Jacobs’ son, Soji, told Channels Television on Sunday that his father is “very much alive.”

Soji shared a video showing Jacobs having his beard shaved.

In the video, Soji informed his father about the rumours of his alleged death, and the actor appeared shocked.

The actor’s son described the situation as annoying and distressing for the family.

Similarly, the spokesperson for the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Kate Henshaw, expressed displeasure over the recurring death rumours.

The first time such unfounded reports surfaced online was in June 2020 which prompted the AGN to refute the claims.

Also, in August 2022, similar rumours circulated but were debunked by his wife, Joke Silva, who also threatened legal action against those spreading the misinformation.

Since November 2021, Jacobs’ health has been a topic of concern after his wife revealed his battle with Dementia Lewy Body (DLB), a degenerative disease affecting the brain.

In an interview, Silva explained, “It’s almost like Parkinson’s; it affects the brain, so you don’t see the shaking. It’s been hard on him and the family.”

Despite his health challenges, Jacobs has continued to make occasional public appearances. In 2021, he was honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Africa International Film Festival Awards in Lagos, and he later posted a picture of himself on Instagram, receiving an outpouring of sympathy and well-wishes from fans.
