The Nigeria Police Force has rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a late-night operation conducted around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Police sources said two suspected kidnappers were killed during a gun battle with operatives, while two firearms were recovered from the suspects.
Mrs. John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her children were abducted at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while on their way to school.
According to security sources, sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical operations mounted pressure on the kidnappers, forcing a confrontation that led to the successful rescue of the victims.
The sources added that security operatives are continuing combing operations in surrounding areas to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate, some of whom are believed to have escaped with gunshot injuries.
Before the rescue, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had visited Adelabu’s residence to express solidarity with the family and assure them that security agencies were working tirelessly to secure the safe release of the victims.
