Seyi Vodi Receives Commendation As First High-Value FCT Taxpayer In 2025
Nigerian celebrity fashion designer, Seyi Adekunle, popularly known as Seyi Vodi, has been commended by the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) for being the first High Net-Worth Individual to file his Annual Tax Return for 2025.
The Acting Executive Chairman of the FCT-IRS, Mr. Michael Ango, announced on Friday that the FCT-IRS would present Vodi with a letter of commendation in recognition of his early compliance, describing the gesture as worthy of emulation by other business owners and high-net-worth individuals in the FCT.
Ango announced this during Vodi’s visit to the headquarters of the FCT-IRS, where the fashion designer filed his tax return voluntarily and without any form of coercion.
“The Minister has transformed Abuja into a world-class capital city, and citizens must support this progress by living up to their responsibilities so the FCT Administration will have adequate resources to do more,” Ango said.
He also appealed to the celebrity fashion designer to use his influence to promote voluntary tax compliance among his peers.
During the visit, Vodi called on business owners to embrace prompt payment of taxes as a means of fast-tracking the actualisation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and accelerating infrastructural development in the Federal Capital Territory.

He urged entrepreneurs in the FCT and across the country to voluntarily discharge their civic responsibility by paying their taxes, noting that tax compliance remains a critical driver of sustainable development.
According to him, increased tax compliance would strengthen the capacity of government to deliver infrastructure and essential public services to citizens.
Vodi said, “It is noble to pay your taxes because this is the money the government uses for infrastructural development and the provision of public services to the people.
“I am urging my fellow business owners, especially tailors, to come forward and voluntarily discharge this civic responsibility for the progress of the FCT and Nigeria as a whole”.
The fashion designer also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as unprecedented infrastructural development within two years in office.

“I have been a resident of the FCT for the past 25 years, since my NYSC days. I know what the FCT used to be and what it is today. The infrastructural development under the present FCT Minister is unprecedented, particularly in road construction and security. The projects are visible; only the blind would fail to see how the capital city has been transformed,” he stated.
