Sokoto Youth Tasked On Ethical Leadership, National Cohesion
The Waziri of Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, has tasked Nigerian youths to embrace ethical leadership and promote national cohesion as critical pillars for the country’s development.
Prof. Junaidu gave the charge during a one-day public lecture organised by the Students’ Wing of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) at the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto.
He emphasised the importance of education, particularly for the girl child, urging parents to allow their daughters to pursue higher education without hindrance.
According to him, educating girls strengthens families, builds resilient communities and contributes significantly to national progress.
He called on students to view Nigeria’s ethnic and religious diversity as a unifying force rather than a source of division, stressing the need for mutual respect, tolerance and interfaith cooperation on campuses to foster peaceful coexistence.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of the Coalition of Northern Groups, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, warned that the growing incidence of drug abuse, thuggery and hate speech in tertiary institutions poses serious threats to national security, democratic development and social harmony.
