275 Passengers Escape Death As Emirate Plane Crash Lands In Dubai

An emirate airline plane, on Wednesday, crashed landed at the Dubai international airport after catching fire in midair.

Reports say the plane, which came from India, crashed at about 12:45pm local time (9:45amGMT). 

According to a statement issued by Emirates, ”all 275 passengers including crew members are accounted for and safe.”

The airline has set up telephone lines for concerned friends and relatives to call to. All activities at the Dubai airport have been brought to a halt till further notice.

Among victims of the crash, were travelers from 20 countries including passengers and crew members.

A Passenger, Sharon Maryam Sharji, described the moment the plane touched the ground as horrifying.

“It was actually really terrifying. As we were landing there was smoke coming out in the cabin. People were screaming and we had a very hard landing.

“We left by going down the emergency slides and as we were leaving on the runway we could see the whole plane catch fire; it was horrifying,” she said.

226 Indian citizens, 24 people from the UK and 11 citizens of the United Arab Emirates were reportedly involved in the crash.
