Abuja Court Judgment On Orji Uzor Kalu Sparks Reactions On Social Media

Reactions have continue to trail the Federal High Court , Abuja  judgement stopping the EFCC from retrying the former Governor of Abia State,  Sen Orji  Uzor Kalu over alleged  N7.1B stolen funds.

Kalu was convicted and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by Justice Muhammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos in 2019.

Kalu, who is the Senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly, was   arraigned alongside his company, Slok Nigeria Limited and Udeh Udeogu, one of his aides while serving as governor for conspiring and diverting the sum of N7.65bn from the coffers of the state.

But a Supreme Court order later quashed their conviction by the high court and ordered a retrial.

But before the case could return to court for retrial, Kalu had secured a judgement from  Justice Inyang Ekwo “prohibiting the federal government through the EFCC,  its officers, servants ,others” from retrying him on the same case.

The court said the Supreme Court had quashed the judgement of the lower court and ordered the retrial of his aide, Udeh Udeogu, and not Kalu.
