Anambra Police Arrest Robbers Terrorising Ekwusigo And Environs

The Anambra State Police Command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Saturday, arrested a robbery syndicate terrorizing Ekwusigo and its environs. The arrest, effected at about 12:30pm, followed actionable intelligence, according to the police report.

Those arrested are Onyebuchi Osadebe, 28 years old, of Akwu Ukwu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State; Chibuike Ebere, 23 years old, of Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, and Umoke Kelechi, 22 years old, of Ikwo Local Government Area Ebonyi State.

The command’s public relations officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, stated in Awka on Sunday that the syndicate had on the 11/7/2020, around 6:15am at Umuobi village, Akwu Ukwu, allegedly robbed at gunpoint one Emmanuel Obi of his 700,000.00 naira; 8,000 Euros; 3,000 dollars and some assorted phones.

He said, “Exhibits recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest include one pump action gun, one fabricated gun, four live cartridges, 610, 000.00 naira cash; 4,600 euros cash; 600 dollars, one shuttle bus newly purchased with the victim’s money; two new tricycles and three assorted phones robbed from the victim. The suspects have confessed to the crime voluntarily, and investigation is ongoing after which they would be brought to book.”

The state police commissioner, CP John B Abang, while warning against crimes in the state, assured Ndi Anambra that the command under his watch would continue to make Anambra State unconducive for criminal elements.
