UPDATED: Fayose Arrives EFCC Office With Wike, Fani-Kayode

The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has arrived at the Abuja head office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at about 1:12 p.m on Tuesday afternoon.

Fayose visited the EFCC office in fulfillment of his earlier promise voluntarily visit the headquarters of the anti-graft agency to answer questions pertaining to his N1.3 million alleged corruption case.

In company of Fayose is the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, and former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.

There are indications that the EFCC may detain the former governor following the alarm raised by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday.

The PDP had claimed in a statement yesterday: “The Presidency has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to incarcerate, indefinitely, the outgoing governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.”

The opposition party said, “The alleged directive by the Presidency is not unconnected with the plot to use the EFCC and other security agencies to incarcerate the governor owing to his persistent criticism of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government.

“This uncompromising stands of the outgoing governor against the present administration was the reason Ekiti State was invaded and taken by force during the last governorship election,” said the PDP.
