BREAKING: FG Extends Gradual Ease Of Lockdown For 4 More Weeks

The federal government, on Thursday, extended by four (4) weeks, the current phase two of the eased lockdown approved on June 29th by the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19.

The taskforce had extended the eased lockdown by four weeks.

Chairman of the Taskforce, Boss Mustapha, disclosed this at the ongoing taskforce briefing in Abuja.

Recall that the government, had on July 27 extended the current lockdown by one week due to sallah celebration on July 29th.

The current extension followed the expiration of the phase two lockdown, which ended today, August 6th.

Mustapha said the extension followed the PTF recommendation to President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday.

He said the current curfew of 10pm to 4am is still in force.

The SGF also disclosed that civil servants on grade level 12 and above are now to resume work on full working time of closing by 4pm and no longer 2pm.

He also said Government meetings are to continue to be virtual.

He said the task force recommended to the president to retain the current phase of the response, with minor changes to address economic, socio-political, and health concerns in order to sustain the gains already recorded in the last few weeks.

The SGF maintained that the major changes being proposed are aimed at achieving the gradual re-opening of international air flights within established parameters as well as the re-opening of rail transportation within established parameters, and the granting of permissions to exit classes to resume ahead of examinations.
