Buhari Asks Senate To Confirm Mohammed Tanko As Substantive CJN

Senate President, Dr Ahmad Lawan, has read a letter from President Mohammadu Buhari during Thursday’s plenary, requesting the confirmation of Justice Mohammed Tanko as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

President Buhari’s nomination of Tanko is coming a day after the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended the acting CJN to the President for confirmation as the substantive Chief Justice.

In his letter, Buhari urged speedy consideration of Tanko’s confirmation by the Senate.
