Buhari’s ‘Prayer Warriors’ Converge In Abuja, Ask God To ‘Destroy’ President’s Enemies

The worsening security situation and other challenges facing Nigeria has prompted more than 90 imams and pastors, amongst others, to converge on the Unity Fountain in Abuja to pray against “saboteurs” of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The clerics began a three-day intercessory prayer on behalf of President Buhari on Monday to ask God to expose those allegedly sabotaging his administration’s efforts both within and outside the government.

THE WHISTLER visited the venue of the prayer, where it was observed that the gathering consisted of bishops, pastors, sheikhs and imams, amongst others.

The Christian clerics were led by Bishop Sunday Garba, who was identified as the National Coordinator of the National Inter-Faith and Religious Organization for Peace, while one Sheikh Ibrahim led the imams and other malams who arrived the venue in two Toyota coaster buses.

The clerics prayed to God to “open the eyes of our president” to see those allegedly misleading him and preventing his efforts from yielding fruits in the eyes of Nigerians.

Leading the Muslim prayer, Sheih Ibrahim prayed thus: “We praise your name almighty Allah, you’re the owner of everybody. And you’re the owner of everything. You’re the owner of our president (Muhammadu Buhari) and the country entirely. We pray in your name God almighty Allah, give our president the wisdom of handling this country in the right way. God almighty Allah, we pray in your name (to) open the eyes of our president…give him the wisdom to see all the enemies of this country that are surrounding him…that are misleading him. God destroy this people.

He added that, “We pray in your name that all the people who form the cabinet of this president … all the bad eggs among them…expose them God almighty Allah, remove them from power. Anybody among them that does not mean well for the masses of this country, for this nation, remove them God almighty Allah.”

THE WHISTLER gathered that it was not the first time such inter-faith prayers would be organized to pray for God to give the president insights to lead the country aright.

In the past, clerics were said to have interceded on behalf of the president each time it seemed that the nation was troubled or faced with unrests.

The prayer this time around came about two months after thousands of Nigerians protested nationwide against what some called “bad governance” under the banner of the #EndSARS protests.

The intercessory prayers also came at a time that prominent citizens, including the Sultan of Sokoto, are lamenting worsening cases of kidnappings, insurgency and banditry in the country. The country also recently slipped into its worst recession since 1987.

Earlier in his opening remark, Bishop Garba said the main focus of the prayers was for God to expose those sabotaging the efforts of the president.

“Before our religion we are brothers and sisters. That’s why we call on our brethren from the Muslim side and the Christians that we will come together as one people to lift up this nation together. And of course, I have no doubt in my heart that our cry has reached up to heaven and that God in his wisdom has answered our prayers. And we trust God that God will grant our President, Muhammadu Buhari, the wisdom to pioneer the affairs of this nation and to move this nation to a greater height.

“One of our main focus is to pray against saboteurs in this government. Of course, the president means this nation well but there are people who a saboteuring (sic) his effort and that is why we are praying…that God will fish them out and bring them out of this government so that Nigeria will be great again,” he said.
