CDS Irabor Meets S/West Retired Military Officers In Ibadan ‘As Nation Is Threatened’

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, is holding an interactive meeting with retired senior military officers in the South-West region.

The meeting, which is taking place at the 2 Division Nigerian Army, Ibadan is targeted at looking for ways to use the knowledge of the retired military officers to address security challenges in the country.

Irabor said, ” I believe you and I are sold out to ensure that the unity and progress of our nation remain on course.

” We realise that the territorial integrity of our nation is being threatened. There is no better set of Nigerians that should be engaged to address this than you. You are most qualified on this.”

He said the meeting which started in Ibadan would be held in other regions of the country, saying the military would leverage on the experience of its former officers to address the problem and keep the country safe.

The General Officer Commanding, 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Gen. Gold Chibuisi, in his welcome address said the growing insecurity in the country was putting the military on the spotlight.

He said military officers and men were deployed in every state of the federation which he said was stretching them.

The CDS and other senior military officers are holding a closed door meeting with the retired military officers.

Some of the senior military officers invited for the meeting started arriving as early as 8am.

Some Nigerians have been calling on the military to engage retired officers to tackle insecurity in the country.

The late Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, had in April at a workshop in Port Harcourt , River State capital sought the collaboration of the retired officers.
