Court Dismisses Saraki’s Appeal Against CCT

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, on Friday, dismissed the appeal filed by senate president, Bukola Saraki, challenging his trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

The appeal court dismissed all 5 issues raised by Saraki in the appeal after two of the three panel of judges ruled that his appeal lacks merit.

The implication of the dismissal is that the CCT will go ahead with the trial of the embattled senate president.

You will recall that Saraki is being tried on a 13 count charge of false asset declaration when he was Kwara state governor.

He had challenged the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to subject him to trial based on the 13-count charge preferred against him by the Federal Ministry of Justice.

His next appearance before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, is on the 5th of November 2015.
