Court Remands Husband, Other For Beheading Wife, Daughter

An Osun State Magistrate’s Court in Ile Ife has ordered that one Micheal Adunola, 32 should be remanded in prison custody for the alleged murdered of his wife and her 14 months old daughter.

His alleged accomplice, Atinuke Olawoyin, was also remanded in prison on the order of the court.

The police prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, an Inspector told the magistrate, Muhibah Olatunji, on Tuesday that the accused persons committed the offence on May 23, 2020 around 12:00noon in Ile-Ife.

He told the court that the accused persons murdered Esther Adunola and her 14 month old baby, Glory Adunola.

The prosecutor told the court that the husband and Olawoyin conspired among themselves to kill the woman and her child thereby commuting murder.

Aside the murder count, the duo was also accused of committhg felony to wit: misconduct with regard to the corpses.

Osanyintuyi said, “The offence contravened Sections 242, 319(1) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun State, 2002.”

Although the accused persons had legal representation their pleas were not taken.

The magistrate ordered the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and send it to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) at the State Ministry of Justice for legal advice.

She ordered that the accused persons be remanded at the Correctional Centre , Ilesa.

The case was adjourned to July 28, for mention.

It will be recalled that residents of Ile Ife were thrown into panic when they discovered headless bodies of the mother and her child in a gutter.

The headless bodies were dumped inside a gutter opposite AUD primary school in the area.
