Of all the Nigerian artists nominated, including Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, Ayra Starr, and Tems, none secured a Grammy win across their combined 10 nominations.

Davido lost three categories with ‘Feel’ nominated for the Best Global Music Performance category, ‘Timeless’ nominated for the Best Global Music Album category to Shakti’s ‘This Moment.’ Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them’ also fell short in the same category.

However, South Africa’s Tyla, made history as the first-ever recipient of the Best African Music Performance award defeating Davido, Burna Boy, Asake and Ayra Star.

Meanwhile, the award night has continued to elicit reactions from Nigerians on social media. While some felt the Grammy Award’s was not fair, others held that Nigerian artistes were outperformed by their contemporaries.

Mazi Nathan wrote on X (formerly Twitter); “No Nigerian act won at the Grammy Award this year? That hurts. Is this a snub or a quota system thing? Not Davido, not Asake, not Ayra Starr and not even Burnaboy with what he did on “I told them” album.”

Also, @djspoiltkid wrote, “No Nigerian Artist won a Grammy Award at the 66th #Grammys even though the Recording Academy added a new category that was dominated by Nigerians. Hope you get the message?”

@Obiefule wrote, “On a side note, the fact that no Nigerian artiste won the award this season is a reflection of how much nonsense they churned out last year. I hardly ever want to validate people’s talent with awards but last year was totally below par for Afrobeats. Let’s call a spade a spade.”
