DisCos Generate N203.61bn Revenue In One Month

11 Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) generated N203.61bn in revenue from electricity customers in April 2026, a document obtained from the
Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has disclosed.

The latest Commercial Performance Factsheet released by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) showed that the 11 DisCos collected N203.61bn out of total billings of N252.43bn during the month.

This translated to a collection efficiency of 80.66 per cent, up by 1.07 percentage points from March.

According to the report, the DisCos received electricity worth N302.96bn and billed customers N252.43bn, representing a billing efficiency of 83.32 per cent, a slight decline of 0.57 percentage points from the previous month.

NERC also reported that the industry’s revenue recovery efficiency stood at 82.11 per cent, with the average actual collection of N102.13 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) compared to the allowed average tariff of N124.39/kWh.

Among the distribution companies, Eko DisCo recorded the highest revenue recovery efficiency at 102.09 per cent, indicating that it exceeded the allowed average tariff in actual collections.

It was followed by Port Harcourt DisCo with 90.39 per cent, Abuja DisCo with 89.77 per cent, and Ikeja DisCo with 88.89 per cent.

On revenue collection efficiency, Benin DisCo ranked highest with 95.52 per cent, ahead of Eko DisCo at 94.26 per cent and Port Harcourt DisCo at 91.41 per cent.

Also, Kano DisCo recorded the weakest performance with 49.89 per cent, while Kaduna DisCo posted 55.38 per cent.

For billing efficiency, Enugu DisCo led the sector with 92.77 per cent, narrowly ahead of Eko DisCo at 91.56 per cent, while Kaduna DisCo recorded the lowest billing efficiency at 62.81 per cent.
