Group Alleges ‘Criminal Hersdmen’ Shot 28-Year-Old Farmer In Oyo

Hoodlums suspected to be criminal Fulani hersdmen have again attacked another farmer in Idiyan, a village near Igangan in the Ibarapa North Local Government Areas of Oyo State.

THE WHISTLER was told that the farmer, Kaptain Kaston, was attacked on Friday near his farm in Idiyan.

The hoodlums reportedly asked the victim not to tell anybody that he was attacked by Fulani men and he agreed with them.

But the assailants were said not to be convinced that he would not disclosed their ethnic origin and this made them to shoot him on the shoulder.

Sources in the area also told our correspondent that the victim was attacked with cutlass and was injured in some parts of his body.

The reason the suspected herdsmen attacked him was not immediately known but there have been similar attacks in the area.

The Convener of Igangan Development Advocates, Oladiran Oladokun, said Kaston was attacked on Friday.

Oladokun said, “The farmer was reportedly attacked by three criminal Fulani men around his farm at Abojukopo area of ldiyan.

“The victim who was brutally attacked and was asked never to tell anyone that his attackers are Fulani and he agreed to cooperate with them. Unfortunately, they were not convinced and they decided to injure Kaptain Kaston, who is from Benin Republic with cutlass.

“The farmer was later shot by one of the terrorists on the shoulder after inflicting injuries on his body.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached on his telephone to confirm the attack.

His telephone line indicated it was switched off.
