Kano Returns Exchange Students To Home States

The Kano State Ministry of Education has commenced the return of students participating in the National School Exchange Programme to their respective states following the end of the 2025/2026 third-term academic session.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the ministry’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, the students were assembled at Rumfa College before departing for the 19 northern states participating in the programme.

The ministry said the transportation exercise was supervised by the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mallam Auwal Mustapha Muhammad, alongside members of the School Exchange Programme Committee to ensure the students travelled safely.

According to the statement, each participating state was assigned a dedicated vehicle and an official escort, who was directed to hand over every student to his or her parents or guardians upon arrival.

To ease the journey, the ministry also provided each student with a refreshment allowance to cover feeding and other minor travel expenses.

The ministry said the exercise reflects its commitment to the welfare and safety of students, as well as the effective implementation of the National School Exchange Programme, which aims to promote national unity, cultural integration and mutual understanding among students from different parts of Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner for Education, Dr Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammad, commended members of the School Exchange Programme Committee and other officials for ensuring the smooth coordination of the exercise.

He wished the students a safe journey back to their respective states and thanked parents and guardians for their continued support of the programme.
