FG Taps Professional Expertise To Build Resilient Economy

The Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, has called for stronger collaboration between the government and professional institutions to support Nigeria’s drive towards a more resilient, competitive and sustainable economy.

Danjuma made the call during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Architects International Integrated Research for Development Conference Programmes (NIA IINFRADCO) in Abuja.

He said the Federal Government recognises that sustainable economic growth depends on strategic partnerships that harness professional expertise, innovation and institutional capacity.

According to him, professional bodies have a critical role to play in policy formulation, human capital development, innovation and infrastructure delivery, all of which are essential to achieving long-term national development.

He described NIA IINFRADCO as a forward-looking institution whose work in research, capacity development and professional excellence aligns with the Federal Government’s efforts to diversify the economy, improve productivity and promote inclusive growth.

The permanent secretary said the Ministry of Finance would continue to support engagement with institutions whose programmes provide practical solutions to national development priorities.

He urged the institute to sustain its commitment to innovation and professional development while expanding collaboration with government and other stakeholders to unlock investment opportunities, stimulate enterprise, create jobs and promote sustainable infrastructure development.

Danjuma stressed that strategic partnerships remain vital to building an economy capable of meeting the aspirations of both present and future generations.

Earlier, Chairman of NIA IINFRADCO, M. B. Bello, said the institute remains committed to promoting professional excellence through research, capacity development, executive education, consultancy and innovation to support sustainable national development.

Bello explained that the institute seeks to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice by equipping architects and other built environment professionals with the skills needed to address emerging industry challenges.

He added that stronger collaboration among government, the private sector, academic institutions and development partners is crucial to achieving sustainable infrastructure and economic growth.

The NIA IINFRADCO chairman said the institute is positioning itself as a centre of excellence in architectural education, research and professional development through certification programmes, policy advocacy, executive training and consultancy services aimed at strengthening the built environment sector.

He expressed confidence that sustained collaboration with the Federal Government and other stakeholders would foster innovation, improve infrastructure delivery and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s long-term economic development.
