Kenyan Varsity Makes Laptop Ownership Mandatory For Students

The management of the Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya, has made laptop computer ownership a mandatory requirement for new and returning students.

The public tertiary institution maintained that the decision was due to the fact the mode of teaching and learning would now be face-to-face as well as online.

The school’s first semester 2020/2021 Academic year is billed to start by September.

“Kenyatta University wishes to inform all new and continuing students that…all courses will be offered through the blended (face-to-face and online) mode of teaching/learning.

“It is therefore mandatory for all students in all modes of study who do not own laptops to ensure that they acquire them for the online learning,” it stated on Wednesday, in a Twitter post.

The institution is among over 20 public universities in the country.

The school which was established in 1985 is reported to have over 50,000 student population across 13 campuses.
