Lagos Seasiders Defeat Osun United In Handball Premier League

Lagos Seasiders edged out a resilient Osun United side 26–22, Monday, in one of the closely contested fixtures on Day 7 of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2025 Phase 1, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.

The Seasiders boys, who led 11–9 at halftime, showed composure in the closing minutes of the game to withstand a spirited comeback attempt from the debutants, Osun United. This is their first victory of the league this season.

Elsewhere in the men’s category, former champion Safety Shooters were in dominant form as they overwhelmed Adamawa Warriors 40–31, after taking a comfortable 20–14 lead into the break.

COAS Shooters also maintained their strong form with a commanding 37–27 win over Benue Buffaloes. The Nigeria Army side were in control from the start, leading 17–11 at halftime and never looking back.

Tojemarine Academy, following their loss the previous day, defeated De Defenders 37–25. The reigning champions raced into a 19–10 halftime lead and dictated the pace throughout the match.

Rima Strikers of Sokoto had to dig deep to secure a narrow 25–24 victory over Correction Boys.

In the women’s category, Safety Babes edged Rima Queens 22–21 in a thrilling contest. The defending champions had to fight back from a 14–11 halftime deficit to snatch victory by the slimmest of margins.

Soof Omo Ogiefo produced an attacking masterclass with a 41–23 demolition of Imo Grasshoppers.

The high-flying debutants led 22–11 at halftime and never looked in danger as they defeated their seemingly more experienced opponent.

Defender Babes also proved too strong for Ekiti Queens, cruising to a 43–21 win after an explosive 24–11 first-half performance.
