Lagos Taskforce Cracks Down On ‘Omotaku’ Street Urchins

The Lagos State Taskforce has launched a major clampdown on street urchins popularly known as “Omotaku,” area boys, and other criminal elements.

The task force arrested several suspects at Marwa Bus Stop in Lekki.

The taskforce’s Director of Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, in a statement on Thursday, said the operation followed an attempted extortion of a truck driver whose vehicle had broken down.

Abdulraheem said the suspects reportedly threatened to remove the vehicle’s battery, side mirrors, and jack while demanding money and the driver’s phone.

According to him, the taskforce operatives, who were on routine patrol and acting on intelligence, apprehended all suspects involved in the crime.
