Makinde, Fayose Feud Deepens As Oyo Appointee Threatens Ex- Ekiti Gov With Jail

The dispute between Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, and former Governor Ayo Fayose appears to have deepened as a political appointee in the administration of Oyo State governor launched a direct verbal attack against the former Ekiti governor.

The political office holder,Dare Adeleke, who is the Director General of Oyo State Trans City Transport Corporation, had reportedly commented on a social media platform that no matter how Fayose twisted the fact in his case against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, he would go to jail.

Fayose’s spokesman, Lere Olayinka, had posted the court proceeding of his principal’s case versus the EFCC on social media on Monday when Adeleke wrote the comment.

He wrote, “You and your paymaster are jail bond. No matter how you twist the proceedings, he shall be jailed.”

But Fayose’s spokesman when contacted by our correspondent on the telephone flayed Adeleke for being “so uncouth.”

Olayinka said it was obvious that Makinde was aware of Adeleke’s utterances against his boss and was giving him tacit backing.

Describing the director-general as a pig, he said his boss would not wrestle with with a pig.

He said, ” I posted the court proceedings on a social media platform and is on that platform also. His comment was that Fayose would go to jail.

“Is he the judge or the prosecutor? One would clearly know that his principal is supporting him to be making such bile statement. That was not his first time of saying this. He has been saying that for about three to four weeks now without his boss calling him to order.

“If his boss did not approve of what he has been saying, he would have sanctioned him. I can’t be abusing somebody like that and my boss would not call me to order.”

But the Chief Press Secretary to Oyo State Governor, Mr Taiwo Adisa, when contacted by our correspondent said Adeleke was not an aide of the governor and he could not speak for Makinde.

He said Adeleke should not be quoted as speaking for Makinde because he was not appointed to do that and he had never spoken for the governor.

He said, ” Adeleke is not an aide of the governor. The governor did not appoint him to speak for him. Anything Adeleke says should be attributed to him and not Makinde. The governor did not ask him to speak for him.”

Recall that the relationship between Makinde and Fayose had been frosty. Fayose had warned Makinde not to interfere in the politics of Ekiti State at a point, he said he would confront the governor if he tried that.

But Senator Abiodun Olujimi, who is contesting the leadership of the party in the state with Fayose said the former governor could not stop Makinde from seeking to end the crisis in Ekiti State chapter of the PDP because he ( Makinde) is the leader of the PDP in the South-West.
