NNPC To Partner Saudi Energy Company To Revive Refineries

President Muhammadu Buhari has welcomed the partnership between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Saudi energy company, Aramco, to explore areas of collaboration for investments and revival of the nation’s refineries.

Buhari expressed the country’s  willingness to partner Aramco while meeting with the chairman of the oil company and Governor of Public Investment Fund (PIF), Yasir Al-Rumayyan, on Wednesday during the Future Investment Initiative (FII), in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

To ascertain the level of collaboration with Aramco, Buhari directed the NNPC to embark on a diagnostic assessment of refineries, pipelines, depots and other infrastructure across the country.

“Nigerian officials are ready to collaborate with you, they will identify their priorities and invite you for a meeting in the country so that you can go round to inspect the refineries and other oil facilities,” Buhari told Al-Rumayyan.

The president  further instructed the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, the NNPC’s Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari  and the Minister of Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, to work with the Saudi investors and speed up the modalities for investments and collaborations in Nigeria’s oil and gas sectors.
