Nuhu Ribadu Re-unites Atiku, Tinubu In Abuja

Vice President Yemi Osinbjo, former vice president Atiku Abubakar, and former Lagos governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu were among the political bigwigs that graced the wedding fatiha of the son of former EFCC Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu, in Abuja on Saturday. 

Osinbajo shared photos from the event on his official Facebook page on Saturday, where he congratulated Ribadu for the success of the event.

The vice president also wished Ribadu’s son, Mahmud Nuhu Ribadu and his wife, Amina Aliyu Ismaila, a marriage “filled with joy, enduring love and peace.”

Meanwhile, the event would probably make it the first time Atiku and Tinubu would be coming face-to-face since the conduct of the February 23, 2019 presidential election where Atiku lost the election to Tinubu’s party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), whose presidential candidate was President Muhammadu Buhari.

– Atiku Not Fit To Be President –

Tinubu, who is the acclaimed leader of the APC, had ahead of the election said Atiku was not fit to be president because he allegedly squandered billions of dollars meant to revive the power sector when led the privatisation efforts of the Olusegun Obasanjo government between 1999 and 2007.

Tinubu, in his acceptance speech on his appointment to head President Buhari’s presidential campaign, claimed that Atiku had no vision for Nigeria.

He describing the election as a contest between two opposing characters – “one seeking to better the lot of generality of Nigerians and one which has no regard for the public but seeks to return the country to the days of official malpractices and corruption.”

Tinubu said, “The character of the two candidates cannot be more distinct. President Buhari is a straight and honest man.  Leave a naira on the table with Buhari in the room, you will find the naira on the table when you return.

“When Buhari says ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ you know where he stands; he means what he says; no more, no less.

“With Atiku, things are more nuanced. When Atiku speaks, he may mean ‘yes,’ ‘no,’ ‘maybe,’ ‘I don’t know,’ ‘come back tomorrow,’ ‘all of the above,’ or ‘none of the above.’

“His compass has four needles pointing in different directions at the same time. He knows of no direction to take. President Buhari’s word is his bond. When Atiku speaks, it is to give you the slip.”

–  I Regret Not Taking Lagos From Tinubu –

Atiku had on his part said he regretted not taking Lagos from Tinubu when he had the opportunity to do so in 2003.

“When we came to power in 1999, the entire south-western states were controlled by the AD. And when we were approaching the 2003 elections, I told my boss, give me the chance to take over the south-west and he gave me that authority, and I took all the states with the exception of Lagos,” he told some members of his party, the People’s Democratic Party  (PDP), ahead of the 2019 election. 

“Why? Because Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and I came a long way from the SDP, PDM and all of that, and I felt I should leave Lagos for him. In fact, I could easily have taken over Lagos, but I did not.

“I have since regretted my decision; please, my sisters and brothers in the party, I want you to forgive me for taking Lagos out of that arrangement.

“If I have another opportunity again, Lagos will be taken to where it belongs. So, I am appealing to you to give me that opportunity so that I can correct the mistakes that I made.”
