Recruit Govs, Senators To Fight Boko Haram, Nigerians Reply Ndume On 8,000 Army Jobs

Angry reactions have trailed a statement credited to the Senate committee chairman on army, Senator Ali Ndume, on the planned recruitment of 8,000 Nigerian youths into the army.

Ndume had said the number of soldiers were needed to boost the war against Boko Haram terrorists in the North, but THE WHISTLER readers who reacted to the story on Facebook have tackled the senator on the statement

Ndume had said, “…instead of the normal recruitment of 4,000 or 6,000 soldiers at a time, we have asked them (military) to recruit about 8,000 soldiers.”

But the Senator’s statement did not go down well with some Nigerians, who accused the government of enlisting more youths into the army so they could get killed by the insurgents instead of acquiring advanced equipment to enable the military combat the terrorists.

The angry citizens suggested that rather than recruit more youths into the army, public office holders like governors and senators should be engaged to fight the war on insurgency. Below are some of the reactions:

Enuamaka Nwadiashi: “Oya o make una recruit governors, senators and ministers children o!”
