Unubiko Foundation Awards Fresh Scholarship To Students
The Unubiko Foundation has awarded a fresh scholarship to Nigerian students worth over N70m.
The scholarship programme will run concurrently with other existing scholarships that have been awarded by the Foundation across Nigeria.
The beneficiaries were presented with the grant on Friday during the award ceremony that took place in Umuahia, Abia State.
However, the scholarship recognises hard work, academic excellence, and the less privileged Nigerians.
Representing the governor, Dr Alex Otti, the Abia state commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof Uche Eme, encouraged the scholars to let the light that has been lit for them shine,
“This little candle that has been lit and handed over to you, please let it shine, let it glow, and try to hand it over to another person.

“Chief James Ume has given you a future; he has given you hope. Don’t let it end with you,” she said.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Unubiko Scholarship Committee, Dr Agbai Eke Agbai, represented by Chinasa Ume, said the selection process was transparent and rewards hard-working and less privileged students across Nigeria.
“We are very proud to have this kind of thing in our state, and I will say that it is an additional blessing to our state,” he said.
Also speaking, the secretary to the scholarship board, Dr. Christopher Okoro, Rector, Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, explained that the Unubiko foundation was founded to improve the lives of Nigerians.
“Chief James Ume is a man who thinks more of others, well above himself. He is a man who loves the life of others more than anybody can think of. And he is a man who has devoted his time and energy to the development of a lot of persons, of which myself standing here should count myself lucky as being one, if not the prime beneficiary of his benevolence.

“His efforts towards ensuring that human beings exist as humans traverses not just around the corridors of academics, but it pierces and permits through all facets of human endeavor.
UNUBIKO Foundation has also touched the life of Nigerians in the area of health care, youth and women empowerment, community development, and so on and so forth.
“Chief James Ume and UNUBIKO Foundation is not just about philanthropy. James Ume represents a multifaceted leader, a leader in the division of what leadership is all about,” he said.
In his speech, the founder, UNUBIKO foundation , Chief James Ume, congratulated and encouraged the scholars to remember that they carry values, knowledge, and skills that will shape not only your future but also the future of our society.
“I offer my warmest congratulations to our awardees, the true stars of today’s celebration. Your achievements mark the beginning of a promising future.
“You have demonstrated resilience, discipline, and a commitment to excellence.

“Today, you take your place as ambassadors of this great Foundation, as you step into the next chapter of your lives, remember that you carry with you values, knowledge, and skills that will shape not only your future but also the future of our society,” he said.
Earlier in his speech, he thanked the foundation’s Board for the success of the award processes.
“I extend our sincere appreciation to the Foundation’s Scholarship Board for providing a solid structure and a robust framework that made this initiative possible.
“Our heartfelt gratitude goes to my wife, Mrs. Ngozi James Ume, Co-founder of the Unubiko Foundation, whose visionary leadership and steadfast commitment have been instrumental in the growth and development of this Foundation. I also acknowledge our parents and benefactors for their unwavering support and sacrifices,” he said.
The special assistant to the Governor on media and publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma gave his goodwill message, likewise other state officials like the member representing Arochukwu Ohafia federal constituency, Hon Ibe Okwara, the member representing Arochukwu state constituency in the Abia state house of assembly, Hon. Uchenna Okoro and others.
