President Donald Trump had in September, nominated Barrett to occupy the position of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the apex court.

“After a unanimous vote by the Judiciary Committee last week, tonight the Senate confirmed Amy Coney Barrett to become the 115th Associate Justice on the United States Supreme Court,” the White House tweeted on Tuesday.

“Throughout Justice Barrett’s career, she has faithfully upheld the U.S. Constitution as written. The American Bar Association gave Barrett its highest rating, and she has an impressive track record across the legal profession—as a judge, professor, and litigator,” the White House noted in a statement published on Monday.

But, right from her screening at the Senate, the Democrats took a swipe at her Christian faith, arguing that it would influence her judgment in matters relating to abortion, among others things.

Senate Minority Leader, Charles E. Schumer, had claimed that confirming Barrett would be a disaster for the nation’s justice sector.

“The American people will never forget this blatant act of bad faith. They will never forget your complete disregard for their voices, for the people standing in line right now voting their choice, not your choice,” he said.

Also, Trump’s major political opponent at the November 3 presidential election, Joe Biden, said that the judge’s confirmation was Trump’s plot to impose his own agenda on the American people.

“The rushed and unprecedented confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett as Associate Justice to the Supreme Court, in the middle of an ongoing election, should be a stark reminder to every American that your vote matters.

“Just a few days after Election Day next week, the Supreme Court will hear the case on the Affordable Care Act. While panicked and erratic in mishandling the pandemic, Donald Trump has been crystal clear on one thing — for the past four years, and again just last night on 60 Minutes — he wants to tear down the Affordable Care Act in its entirety and take away your health care and protections for pre-existing conditions.

“This goal — the goal of the Republican Party for ten years — was a litmus test in selecting this nominee, regardless of the damage done to the U.S. Senate, to Americans’ faith in the legitimacy of the Supreme Court, and to our democracy, and regardless of how the Affordable Care Act has protected hundreds of millions of people before and during the pandemic,” he wrote in a statement.

However, Justice Amy Coney had maintained that neither her religion nor any politician’s rhetoric would define her judgment on any matter.
