55-Year-Old Woman Arraigned Over Alleged Receipt Of N60,000 Stolen Oil

A 55-year-old woman, Antine Amadu, has been arraigned before a Gombe Magistrate’s Court for allegedly receiving a gallon of Turkey oil valued at N60,000, knowing or having reason to believe that it was stolen.

Amadu, a resident of Dawaki Quarters, Gombe, was arraigned on a charge of receiving stolen property before Chief Magistrate Court No. 1, presided over by Chief Magistrate Musa-Saleh Kilawa.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant dishonestly received the gallon of Turkey oil from one Ibrahim Hassan of Aniya Quarters, Gombe, at about 1am on August 27, 2026.

According to the prosecution, the oil had been stolen from one Haruna Magaji of Ajiya Quarters, Gombe.

Presenting the case, the state counsel, Hafsat Aliyu, told the court that Amadu allegedly received the property despite knowing or having reason to believe that it was stolen.

Aliyu said the alleged offence contravened Section 317 of the Penal Code Law.

When the charge was read and explained to her, Amadu pleaded not guilty.

Following her plea, the court considered her bail application and granted her bail.

The magistrate subsequently adjourned the case until September 14, 2026, for hearing.
