Abducted 10-Year-Old Sokoto Boy Rescued Alive In Sack

A 10-year-old boy kidnapped in Gidan Madi Town, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, has been rescued alive after police detectives intercepted suspected kidnappers carrying him concealed inside a sack on a motorcycle.

The boy, identified as Muhammad Sufiyanu, was rescued at about after the surveillance detectives attached to the Gidan Madi Police Division launched an operation following a report that he had gone missing.

According to the Sokoto State Police Command, the boy’s uncle, Sani Ibrahim, reported the incident at the Gidan Madi Police Station after the boy disappeared earlier that afternoon.

The police said that during surveillance operations, detectives accompanied by the complainant encountered two suspicious persons riding a motorcycle and carrying a concealed sack.

“When the suspects were challenged, they allegedly fled at high speed, prompting the detectives to give chase”

Upon searching the abandoned sack, the police said they discovered the missing 10-year-old boy inside, alive and responsive.

The victim was immediately taken to Gidan Madi General Hospital, where he received medical attention and was subsequently discharged.

The police said the boy later told investigators that one of the suspects had lured him into a room, administered a sedative through an injection and forced him into the sack.

One suspect has since been arrested in connection with the incident and, according to the police, has confessed to the crime.

Crime scene investigators have also visited the location as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify other persons who may have been involved.

The Sokoto State Police Command said investigations were ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend other suspects connected to the alleged kidnapping.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, commended the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely and credible information that could assist in preventing and responding to criminal activities.
