Wike Orders Closure of FCT Houses Sales Secretariat

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the Secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses (SFGH) in the FCT.

The directive was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.

As part of the directive, Wike approved the establishment of a dedicated division in the Department of Land Administration to oversee matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.

The new division will assume all responsibilities previously handled by the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses.

According to the statement, the decision followed the completion of the committee’s assignment. Although its Secretariat was retained to resolve issues arising from the exercise, it has now been formally shut down.

The FCT Administration said all enquiries and matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses should henceforth be directed to the Department of Land Administration.

It also warned residents and prospective property buyers against dealing with anyone claiming to represent the dissolved committee or its Secretariat.

The administration described such individuals as fraudsters, stressing that the committee and its Secretariat no longer exist.

“Members of the public are also urged to be mindful of the antics and activities of fraudsters who parade themselves as staff, officers and members of the defunct Ad-Hoc Committee/Secretariat on SFGH as the Committee and Secretariat no longer exist,” the statement said.

The FCT Administration advised members of the public to deal only with the Department of Land Administration on all matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the Federal Capital Territory.
