Abia Governor’s Aide Denies Attacking Ben Kalu

The special adviser to the Abia State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, has disowned a fake release circulating on social media indicating that he attacked the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu.

The publication allegedly contained comments against the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, claims Ekeoma described as “baseless fabrications and a clear act of criminal impersonation”.

He clarified that the only official statement he made on the matter remains on his verified Facebook page and warned those behind the false post to desist from using his name to drive personal or political agendas.

“My attention has been drawn to a fake release published by Igbere TV – IGTV on Facebook and by another page called ‘Olu Ndi Igbo’ on X, formerly Twitter, crediting me with all kinds of allegations against the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Benjamin Kalu, especially concerning Honourable Kalu’s relationship with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and what allegedly transpired between them in the past.

“The post is a display of journalistic irresponsibility at its peak because the message therein never emanated from me. It’s a clear act of audacious impersonation that should have no place in modern politics and democracy.

“The official rejoinder I issued on behalf of the Abia State government against the Deputy Speaker is still on my Facebook page, and it doesn’t contain those strange allegations I know nothing about.

“Whether as an individual or a government spokesperson, I do not write through a third party, nor do I write using a pseudonym or account. It’s therefore criminal for Igbere TV, “Olu ndi Igbo” or any other platform to issue a statement based on personal vendetta and credit me as the author.

“While we disagree on issues and come hard on those who may be misrepresenting the facts concerning the performance of His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti, OFR, I’m cultured and emotionally intelligent enough not to resort to baseless fabrications against any individual, including the Deputy Speaker.

“I’m also courageous enough to take full responsibility for every write-up or post I make by putting it on my Facebook page and signing off with my name.

“Igbere TV, “Olu ndiIgbo, and their sponsors must know that airing their views or carrying out media attacks of this nature on any individual through criminal subterfuge in a democracy is a sign of cowardice.

“This post serves as a warning to the aforementioned platforms and their sponsors never to use my name to embark on their self-serving agenda against their opponents in the future, failure of which I would be forced to take legal action.”
