Nigerian Dancer Poco Lee Remanded In UK Over Alleged Assault

Popular Nigerian dancer and socialite, Iweh Odinaka, better known as Poco Lee, has reportedly been remanded in a United Kingdom prison over an alleged assault offence.

Poco Lee is expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on September 15, 2026, for a plea hearing.
The development was confirmed to SaharaReporters on Monday by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom.

Kuti said Poco Lee is currently being held on remand and is scheduled to appear before the court at exactly 10am on the scheduled date.

“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing,” Kuti said.

He explained that a plea hearing typically involves an accused person indicating whether they intend to plead guilty or not guilty to the allegation.

Kuti, who said he regularly attends court proceedings and assists Nigerians facing legal issues in the UK, added that he would attend Poco Lee’s hearing to support him during the proceedings.

“I will also be attending the court proceedings as part of my support for the Nigerian community in the UK, to ensure that our fellow Nigerian receives the appropriate support during this difficult period of his life,” he said.

He, however, urged the public to allow the legal process to take its course, stressing that Poco Lee remains innocent unless proven guilty by a court.
“It is important that we allow the legal process to take its course. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. His hearing would be at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026, at exactly 10am,” Kuti added.

Reports of Poco Lee’s alleged detention in the UK began circulating online on August 19.

The initial reports did not disclose the identity of the alleged complainant or provide details of the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
It was also unclear from the early reports whether formal charges had been filed against the dancer, while neither the UK police nor the court had initially publicly confirmed the reported detention.

SaharaReporters could not independently verify the specific circumstances of the alleged offence as of the time of filing this report.

An email sent to the Snaresbrook Crown Court seeking confirmation of the reported proceedings had also not received a response as of press time.

Poco Lee, who has built a large following through his dance performances and social media activities, has yet to publicly comment on the reported detention and allegation.
