AFCON Qualifiers: Musa, Ndidi, 16 Others Arrive Eagles’ Camp

18 Super Eagles players have arrived the Savoy Hotel Resort and Spa in Victoria ahead of Saturday’s 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles, according to a statement on Super Eagles official twitter handle.

As at Monday night, only Galatasaray forward, Henry Onyekuru was in camp but was joined for Tuesday’s breakfast by 9 Eagles players namely, Kenneth Omeruo, Francis Uzoho, Semi Ajayi, Samuel Kalu, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Chidozie Awaziem, Chidiebere Nwakali and Bryan Idowu.

The statement indicates that Ahmed Musa, Ogenyi Onazi, Odion Ighalo, Etebo Oghenekaro, Leon Balogun, Jamilu Collins, Simeon Nwankwo and Joel Obi, have all arrived; thus, swelling the number of players in camp to 18.

Meanwhile, the trio of Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, and William Troost-Ekong have been ruled out of the encounter due to injuries.

The ‘Matchday 2’ encounter between Nigeria and the Seychelles national team, known as Pirates, is scheduled to hold on Saturday (1.30 p.m. Nigeria time), at the Stade Linite on the Mahe Island (home to the capital city, Victoria).

Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands on the western Indian Ocean, off East Africa, and is home to about 100,000 people.

This weekend’s clash is crucial to both the Eagles and the Pirates, both teams having lost their opening games in the series.

The Eagles lost 0-2 to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Uyo on June 10, 2017. A day earlier, the Pirates were crushed 5-1 by Libya’s Mediterranean Knights at the Stade Chedly Zouiten in Tunisia’s capital.

Libya national team top the Group E, followed by the Bafana Bafana, with the Eagles in third place and the Pirates bottom.
