Amos Azi Reapointed Chairman Investments And Securities Tribunal

President Bola Tinubu has reappointed Amos Azi as chairman and approved new members for the Investments and Securities Tribunal (IST).

This was disclosed in a statement released by Maria Anodere, acting head of the Corporate Affairs Department of the tribunal.

According to the statement, President Tinubu approved the appointments on the recommendation of the Minister of State for Finance, in line with Sections 315 and 319(2) of the Investments and Securities Act 2025

Azi was appointed by former president Muhammadu Buhari to head the tribunal to serve an initial 5-year tenure, starting July 17, 2020. His tenure expires on July 16, 2025.

Azi will continue to lead the tribunal alongside newly appointed members Gboyega Oyekanmi, Felix Onwuneme, Shehu Lawal Mandiya, Robert Uchenna Okwuego, and Osaze Ize-Iyamu.

Other members are: Ummahani Ahmad Amin, Ali Sadiq Mohammed, Olatunde M. Amolegbe, Udegbulam Athanatius Chukwuemeka, Orya Ungwaga Roberts, and Kamarudee Oladosu.

The tribunal, established as a specialised adjudicatory body, is mandated to ensure the timely resolution of disputes and the enforcement of rights arising from investments and securities transactions.

By promoting fairness, transparency and integrity, it plays a vital role in building confidence in Nigeria’s financial market.

The statement described the appointments as a major step towards consolidating investor confidence and enhancing the efficiency of justice delivery within the capital market.
