The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Tukur Buratai, announced this during a media chat at the Special Army Super Camp 4, Faskari in Katsina State.

Buratai said with the progress and achievements recorded in barely two months, the army had expanded its area of responsibility beyond north-west to include north-central, as well as reinforcement and regrouping of troops to deal with the criminals.

According to him, troops are getting more equipment, hence the need to intensify the onslaught against bandits and their accomplices.

He expressed optimism that normalcy would soon return to the north-west, given the dedication, commitment, determination and professionalism of the troops.

The COAS called on troops to maintain the tempo, adding that they were operating in full compliance with their constitutional responsibility.

The army boss praised the media
for their support and cooperation to the military in disseminating its activities to the general public.

He urged members of the public not to shield any criminal as the army, in collaboration with other security agencies, was working hard to end all forms of criminality in the region and the country at large.

Recall that the army had on July 6, launched Operation Sahel Sanity, to tackle banditry and other crimes in Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto and Niger states.
