BREAKING: Undergraduate Arrested For Opening Goodluck Jonathan Parody Twitter Account Released From Detention

The Nigeria Police have released a university undergraduate, Babatunde Olusola, who was arrested about two months ago for opening a parody Twitter account of former president Goodluck Jonathan.

Olusola, a final year student of Chemical Engineering at the Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, was said to have been arrested and detained by the Force Crime Investigation Department (FCID).

His arrest and detention followed a funny tweet he allegedly posted about Jonathan’s wife.

The undergraduate’s release was confirmed on Tuesday by Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, who had constantly used the micro-blogging platform to call for the boy’s release.

Sowore tweeted on Tuesday: “#FreeShola has just been released from @PoliceNG detention in Abuja after more than 2 months for creating a parody account in the name of ex-President @GEJonathan, the former Pres. has also agreed to discontinue the bogus criminal trial. G-thanks to all!”
