CAMA, Threat To Christendom, Church’ll Overcome… Says Fani-Kayode

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has joined the conversation, saying that the new Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), 2020 is targeted against the advancement of Christianity in Nigeria.

However, he noted that the Church would outlive it.

He advised those who framed the new law to understand that the Church is universal and headed by Jesus Christ.

“Though the legislation known as CAMA represents the greatest threat to Christendom in our history, those behind it fail to appreciate that the gates of hell SHALL NOT prevail against the Church.

“No matter what they do, Jesus remains Lord and the gospel shall continue to flourish,” Fani-Kayode tweeted on Friday.

CAMA had captured new regulations for religious institutions in the country.

Recall that the presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, had on Sunday frowned on the CAMA.

He said it was an attempt to meddle in the affairs of the church.

“Please know that the church is the bride of Christ; we are returning home someday for the big marriage supper of the lamb.

“It is wise to quickly expunge that part that affects the religious body from that document; it is only safe to do that.

“In the document. the registrar-general is superior to the court, including the Supreme Court.

“The supervising minister can wake up one day and say why are you going to church early in the morning, you can’t go to church anymore,” the bishop said.

Also, the Socio-economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) warned the Federal Government regarding the new CAMA, adding that it suppressed the fundamental rights of Nigerians.

Meanwhile, a Presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie, reacting to Oyedepo’s comment, said he must abide by the law.

“I hope this is not true.
If it is, Oyedepo will have to manufacture his own country and live by his own laws.

“As long as he lives and operates within the entity called Nigeria, he will live by Nigerian rules and laws.

” He will do as he’s told by the law,” she had tweeted.
