The transition committee chairman of Igboeze South LGA in Enugu State, Dr Fidelis Odo, at the 2017 Children’s Day celebration held in Ibagwa Aka, called on the children of the area to pray for the state Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as well as take their studies seriously.

In his goodwill message, he said, “I bring greetings of Governor Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi to you all. He has done well in the development of our local government area and the state as a whole. Thus we must pray for his continuity in government. Again you should study hard. Parents on their part should train their children and wards to adapt to the contemporary academic dynamics.”

Dr Odo, who was excited at the displays of the schools, awarded victories to all the participants.

He said, “I am convinced that all the schools rehearsed enough, and deserved trophies. I therefore value the joy of the entire participants more than that of the three schools that would have come first, second and third.

This gesture also applies to the dance groups.”

Every school that participated in the match past got a football each while the dancers got cash gifts. Odo said the choice of the football was to encourage footballing in the council area.

The event was graced by royal fathers, officials of the council, PDP stakeholders, interest groups, among others. The highlight of the celebration included parades by the members of the central neighborhood watch, and cultural dances.
