Court Dismisses Suit Seeking To Stop Obaseki From PDP Primary

A Federal High Court sitting in Portharcourt, has dismissed a suit seeking to stop Governor Godwin Obaseki from contesting the Edo People’s Democratic Party’s Primary.

The parties in the suit had agreed to settle their issues outside the court.

Channels Television reported that Ogbeide-Ihama’s counsel had requested that the court stood down the case for some time, to allow for an out-of-court settlement.

The other counsels did not oppose the plea.

Justice Emmanuel Obile, who presided over the matter, on Wednesday, granted their prayers.

Recall that the court had earlier said that the motion seeking to stop the Governor from contesting be served to the defendants including Mr Obaseki via newspaper publication.

Omoregie, a PDP governorship aspirant, who filed the suit, had alleged that Obaseki was not qualified to contest on the PDP platform.

Obaseki, who defected from the All Progressive Congress was granted waiver by the PDP recently.
