COVID-19: Yoruba Community In Kano Commends Ganduje, Says ‘He Makes Us Feel At Home’

Yorubas residing in Kano under the aegis of Kano Yoruba Solidarity Forum(KYSF) have commended Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for giving them palliatives to cushion the impact of covid-19 pandemic, saying the governor has given them a sense of belonging.

The group said the Covid-19 palliative gesture extended to the Yorubas in Kano, by the Ganduje administration has demonstrated “in words and actions that Kano State is truely a home to all” and shows the governor was detribalised and does not practice religious discrimation.

This was contained in a statement signed by the convener of the group, Comrade Femi Micheal , made available to journalists on Wednesday in Kano.

The body expressed satisfaction with the first phase of the distribution of the palliatives.

KYSF said the pallaitive items, comprising of rice, noodles and groundnut oil, had given succour to the poorest among them, adding that Yoruba indigenes residing in the state have reason to be grateful to the state government and would continue to supports it’s people oriented policies.

The body applaud the committee tasked with the distribution of the items, led by the Asiwaju of Yoruba’s in Kano, Alhaji Muritala Alimi Otisese, for the discreet manner which it adopted in ensuring that the palliatives were judiciously distributed to beneficiaries.

The group task the Oba in Council of Sarkin Yorubawa , Kano, led by Asiwaju Alimi to take further steps in intitiating economic empowerment programmes that would further elevate the poorest of the poor among Kano Yorubas.

The body appealed to the Yorubas to always adhere to Covid -19 protocols, while further urging them to shun acts that would create division among them.

It appealed for unity among them as the true sons and daughters of Oduduwa, who it said, were renown for being law abiding citizens where ever they are. domicile.

The KYSF then charged the Yoruba community to always contribute their quota to the development of the state and stay clear of anything that could tarnish their good reputation.

Equally, the association urged all Yoruba resident outside their respective state of origins ,to always remember their roots and make by investments in laudable projects they could fall back on at old age.
