Cross River APC Removes Chairman Alphonsus Eba

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Cross River State chapter has removed Alphonsus Ogar Eba, as chairman.

The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the party removed Eba on Thursday after a protracted crisis blamed on financial recklessness.

No fewer than 30 of the 32 SEC members passed a vote of no confidence after prolonged internal disputes.

The state chapter of the APC has been engulfed in crisis over allegations of financial mismanagement, high-handedness and a prolonged closure of the party secretariat

Following Eba’s exit, SEC directed the deputy chairman Ntufam Ekum Ekok Ojogu, to take over as acting chairman pending rectification by the APC national leadership.

Party leaders said the action was necessary to halt what they described as a deepening crisis within the state chapter.

Chief Kelvin Njong, Chairman of the APC in Boki and spokesperson for the 18-chapter chairmen, explained that the decision followed extensive consultations and formal petitions submitted to the national leadership.

After taking oath of office Ojogu pledged to reopen party structures, reconcile aggrieved members
and restore transparency in administration.

He thanked stakeholders for adhering to due process and reaffirmed the chapter’s loyalty to Governor Bassey Edet Otu.

“All grievances must be set aside so we can rebuild. All entitlements owed will be addressed. My doors and phone lines are open 24/7. It is time to sheath our swords,” he said.

Ojogu also commended ward leaders, polling unit coordinators, and volunteers for sustaining party activities at the grassroots during the crisis.
